Mitochondrial quality control in neurodegenerative diseases

We have an intense interest in understanding how mitophagy, the removal of damaged or dysfunctional mitochondria, preserves cellular health.

We also seek to understand how disruption to this pathway contributes to human neurodegenerative disease.

Our work primarily focuses on Parkinson’s disease, with broader relevance to other age-related disorders, including Alzheimer’s disease.
